Late Viking Age Sword with Scabbard, Brazil Nut Pommel
In the High Middle Ages, Viking swords began to lose some of their characteristic features, such as the broad, slowly tapering blade and the three-lobed pommel, and began to look more and more like the longswords of the Middle Ages.
This faithful replica replaces the three-lobed pommel with the Brazil nut shape, and the short, thick guard of previous swords is adapted to the thinner, elongated, and classic medieval cross shape. The blade extends continuously to the pommel and is hand-riveted there. The grip is wrapped with leather cord.
The blade features a pronounced fuller, which gives the sword great elasticity and lightness at the same time. The blade edges are not sharpened.
The sword comes with a very beautiful wooden-leather scabbard with a wooden loop as a belt hanger (for belts up to 5 cm wide). The scabbard has a richly decorated brass chape.
This is the regular version of this Viking sword. The same sword is also available in a battle-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: Article no. 0180001606.
