Description
Viking Temple Sword with Scabbard
The Viking sword, or Carolingian sword, is a type of sword used during the Early Middle Ages in Western and Northern Europe. The Viking sword evolved from the Roman Spatha and was used by the Franks during the Carolingian era (between 751 and 911).
This sword was crafted purely by hand. The guard and the typical three-pointed pommel are made of steel. The blade extends continuously to the pommel and is hand-riveted there. The handle is wrapped with leather cord. The blade is forged from high-quality spring steel and hardened to approx. 48 HRC. It features a pronounced fuller, which gives the sword great elasticity and lightness at the same time. The blade edge is not sharpened.
The sword comes with a very beautiful wooden-leather scabbard with a wooden loop as a belt hanger (for belts up to 5 cm wide). The scabbard has a richly decorated brass chape.
This is the regular version of this Viking sword. The same sword is also available in a battle-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: Article no. 0116696306.
