Hanwei Scottish Basket-Hilt Broadsword

Scottish Basket-Hilt Broadsword

Although basket-hilted broadswords were common throughout England from the mid-16th century, they only became legendary in their association with the Scottish Highlander warrior of the 17th and 18th centuries. The Paul Chen Basket-Hilt Broadsword by Hanwei, a replica of an original sword from the collection of the British Royal Armouries, features a typical mid-18th century Glasgow-style hilt. Most likely, the blade of the original sword (marked Andrea Ferara) was crafted a century earlier in German lands, and then later fitted with a more contemporary basket-hilted grip.

This replica features a basket made of easy-care stainless steel and a carbon steel blade. The grip is genuine ray skin with wire wrapping, and the hilt is lined with fabric-covered suede.
