Description
Yari Spear
Paul Chen's Yari was an essential weapon for the Samurai on the battlefields of feudal Japan, requiring great skill to wield and maneuver due to its size and length.
This piece is built after the Su-Yari, or straight spear, design. The triangulated, double-edged blade was forged from T10 carbon steel and features a deep fuller on the flat side of the blade.
Through heat treatment, a distinct temper line (Hamon) can be seen on each edge. The tang is kept long to ensure better shock absorption.
The shaft (Ebu) has a lacquered, black finish and features a flattened section on the underside for better recognition of the blade position. The durability of the spear is further enhanced by the one-piece construction of the shaft.
This version has a long 16 3/4 inch (42,6 cm) blade.
