Thermacell
Thermacell is a company founded in 1981 by Bill Schawbel, a former Gillette executive. The company initially focused on developing cordless household appliances that utilized a portable, heat-based energy source called the Thermacell Fuel Cartridge. In the late 1990s, the company began collaborating with SC Johnson to develop a heat-activated mosquito repellent. After four years of development, Thermacell launched the Mosquito Repeller in 1999. The product creates a fifteen-foot zone of protection against mosquitoes by using an innovative ignition and combustion system to disperse a highly effective repellent.
Over the years, the company has expanded its product line, introducing the Radius, a rechargeable, battery-powered mosquito repeller, and Tick Control Tubes, an environmentally friendly method for protecting against Lyme disease-carrying ticks. The company is committed to improving people's outdoor lives, allowing them to enjoy the great outdoors anywhere.
