Description
Flamberge – Two-Handed Sword, Unmounted Guard
This sword is a replica of a late medieval, flamed two-hander from Emden Town Hall.
The name Flamberge is derived from the wavy, flame-shaped blade. Another term is also flame sword or gassenhauer, as the very long blades were used to cut veritable lanes into enemy lines.
The sword has a leather-wrapped ricasso. The grip is made of hardwood. The unsharpened blade is made of carbon steel and has two strong parrying hooks.
To save on shipping costs and effort, the sword is delivered with the guard unmounted. However, final assembly of the sword is playfully easy: simply unscrew the pommel from the tang, loosen the grip nut that secures the hardwood grip. Then, pull off the wooden grip and slide the guard over the tang. Once the guard is in place, assembly proceeds in reverse order: slide the hardwood grip over the tang and secure it with the nut, then screw the pommel onto the tang's thread.
Details:
– Blade material: carbon steel
– Total length: approx. 147 cm
– Blade length incl. ricasso: approx. 100 cm
– Max. blade width: approx. 5 cm
– Weight: approx. 3,9 kg
