Description
Opening oysters requires strength and skill. The oyster knife from Opinel, specifically created for this purpose, proves to be a good helper. It is based on a size 9 handle, in this case made of varnished Padouk wood. In addition to its attractive appearance, this also provides good protection against the penetration of moisture. The real highlight, however, is the blade, which is produced specifically for opening oysters and is only 6,5 cm long but 2,2 mm thick, made of modified stainless 12C27 Sandvik steel. Note that to release the oyster's adductor muscle, the blade is only ground round at the tip for about 1,5 cm. The rest of the blade is blunt and can therefore be used as a lever for opening. As a true Opinel, this model also has the famous Virobloc safety ring, which reliably locks the open knife.
