FKMD Folding Karambit

The Karambit is a working knife that originated in the Malay Archipelago and was first documented in the 11th century with the ring at the end of the handle. The sickle-shaped blade is still used today in fishing knives or gardener's billhooks. The ring at the end of the handle allows for hands-free work with the knife without having to put it down, and reduces the risk of loss, which is a great advantage, especially in a maritime environment. Today, however, the ring at the end of the handle is more often used for sports, for example, in various Filipino martial arts such as Pencak Silat or Philipino Kali, to rotate the knife on the little finger.

Ernest Emerson was a pioneer in the renaissance of this knife type. He also holds the patent for the so-called Emerson Wave, a small hook on the spine of the blade that allows the blade to open simultaneously when drawn from the pocket. The blade of the FKMD Folding Kerambit is made of N690 and has a black coating. It is opened via thumb hole or Emerson Wave and reliably locked by a sturdy linerlock.
