5.11 Tactical is a US manufacturer of clothing, footwear, gear, and tactical accessories based in Irvine, California, aimed primarily at military, law enforcement, and security personnel as well as outdoor and operational professionals. The brand officially emerged in 2003 when entrepreneur Dan Costa acquired the rights to the “5.11” apparel originally developed by climbing pioneer Royal Robbins - named after the highest difficulty scale in the Yosemite Decimal System - and, together with the FBI, further developed it into functional tactical clothing and gear. Since then, 5.11 Tactical has established itself as a global provider with over 100 proprietary retail stores in many countries and a wide range of products from tactical pants to backpacks and footwear, designed for high durability, practicality, and professional requirements.
