Description
Italian Hand-and-a-Half Sword with Scabbard
This sword is a replica of a 15th-century Italian sword. The original is now housed in the Museo Civico L. Mazzoli in Brescia, Italy.
Sword production was already specialized in the Late Middle Ages, as the blade came from a well-known blade smithy in Passau, Southern Germany, and was assembled in Northern Italy with the typical handle parts of the Italian fashion of that time.
Typologically, the sword can be classified as Oakeshott Type XVIIIa or possibly Type XVIa.
This reconstruction is made exclusively by hand. The slightly forward-curved guard and the octagonal pommel are made of iron. The blade extends continuously to the pommel and is screwed there. The grip is wrapped with a leather strap. The blade has a pronounced fuller, which gives the sword great elasticity and lightness at the same time. The blade edge is not sharpened.
The sword comes with a beautiful, leather-covered wooden scabbard.
This is the regular version of the Italian hand-and-a-half sword. The same sword is also available in a stage combat-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: item no. 0116341906.
Details:
– Blade material: EN45 spring steel
– Rockwell hardness of the blade: 48 – 50 HRC
– Total length: approx. 117,5 cm
– Blade length: approx. 90 cm
– Blade width at the guard: approx. 54 mm
– Balance point: approx. 10 cm before the guard
– Includes scabbard made of wood and black leather
– Regular version, also available is the
battle-ready version (item no. 0116341906)
– Weight without scabbard: approx. 1700 g
