Description
John Lee Dragon Katana
Hand-forged samurai sword from the JOHN LEE series
Masterpieces of Asian smithing
– The sword blades are hand-forged from carbon steel and traditionally tempered.
– The sharpened blades feature a bo-hi (groove) to reduce weight.
– The handles (tsuka) are made of wood and covered in genuine ray skin (same).
– The handle wrapping (tsuka-ito) is traditionally applied using black cotton.
– Two menukis are inserted into the handle.
– The sword tangs are extra long and secured in the handle with two bamboo pins (mekugi).
– The scabbards (saya) are made of wood.
– The blade collars (habaki) are made of brass.
– Crafted based on museum originals.
JOHN LEE Dragon Katana
Even today, the dragon plays a major role in Japan, especially during the New Year festival. Unlike Western mysticism, the dragon in Japan is a lucky mythical creature. The sword has a fine harmony line. The tsuba of this remarkable sword consists of a dragon circling the sword.
