The Windlass Ashdown Viking Sword is a stunning replica of the weapon wielded by Prince Alfred, later Alfred the Great, in 871 AD during the decisive victory over a massive Danish invasion force. Crafted by the renowned artisans of Windlass Steelcrafts, this sword is a testament to historical accuracy and exceptional craftsmanship.
The blade is forged from high carbon steel and features an extra-wide fuller, reducing weight without compromising strength. The steel guard and pommel are adorned with intricate knotwork and finished with a dark forge patina. The grip is wrapped in supple, tanned leather, providing a comfortable and secure hold.
With a matching leather scabbard with a belt for easy carrying, this sword is not only functional but also a true visual delight. Please note, however, that while it exudes authenticity and charm, it is not intended for combat or sparring. Instead, it's a remarkable collector's item, ideal for display or for incorporating into historical costumes and theatrical performances.
