Description
Basket-Hilt Rapier with Bone Grip
Rapiers with distinctive, curved hilt baskets, also known as basket-hilt rapiers, originated in the 17th century. Back then, rapier fencing was an essential part of a gentleman's education and often served to settle disputes among nobles. Typically, blades from Toledo or Solingen were fitted with hilts by regional smiths, leading to a wide variety of designs.
This replica by Paul Chen (Hanwei) features a high-carbon steel blade and an attractive solid steel hilt basket with a dignified bone grip. A firm, leather-covered scabbard is included.
The rapier belt (item no. 0101050400) is ideal for this rapier.
