Description
Claymore Sword
The Claymore is a two-handed sword commonly used in Scotland in the 16th and 17th centuries. There are various names and spellings for this sword, most of which come from Gaelic: Claidhem-More, Claidhmhichean-mora, Glaymore, claidheamh mòr, and simply mean great sword. It is a long two-hander with a double-edged blade and a wide, often V-shaped guard with circular decorations at its ends. Earlier Claymore swords often had a long ricasso wrapped in leather.
The blade of this two-hander was hand-forged from carbon steel. Wooden grip with leather wrapping. The blade is not sharpened.
Details:
– Blade material: carbon steel
– Total length: approx. 140 cm
– Blade length: approx. 105,0 cm
– Blade width: approx. 4,6 cm
– Weight: approx. 2,7 kg
The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regularly maintaining the blade and scabbard, for example, with Ballistol, a universal oil that is excellent for preserving steel goods.
