Description
Gladiator Dagger with Bone Handle
Roman gladiators were destined to fight brutal close combat in the arenas of the Roman Empire. Therefore, a popular weapon was a short sword or dagger suitable for stabbing.
This gladiator dagger is a very beautiful replica of a weapon that was discovered during excavations in Pompeii. The city of Pompeii was largely destroyed in the year 79 AD by the eruption of Vesuvius and buried under a 4 – 6 meter thick layer of ash. It is an Eldorado for archaeologists today. The dagger has a very detailed, handmade bone handle section. The blade is forged from carbon steel. It is unsharpened and therefore perfect for collectors as well as for re-enactment. A scabbard is not available because gladiators' weapons were carried into the arena. Since the handle is made of naturally grown animal bone, small cracks in the material are possible and completely normal. Such small flaws look authentic, natural, and unique at the same time and do not reduce the quality or strength of the handle.
Details:
– Blade material: Carbon steel, unsharpened
– Handle material: Bone
– Total length: approx. 48 cm
– Blade length: approx. 31 cm
– Blade thickness: approx. 4 mm
– Weight: approx. 400 g
