Description
Pugio 'Exeter', Roman Dagger
The main weapon of the Roman legionaries, besides the short sword (gladius), was the pugio dagger, which was carried on the left side of the belt. The pugio has a broad, double-edged blade. This type of weapon was developed on the Iberian Peninsula and found its way from there into Roman military equipment from the 2th century BC. It was the successor to the parazonium. In the 3th century, the pugio went out of use.
This replica features a classic, wide, waisted blade with a fuller. The handle is made of several layers of wood and metal, artfully riveted together. The dagger sheath is crafted from brown leather, reinforced with steel for increased stability. For belt attachment, there are 4 carrying rings on the steel frame of the sheath. This pugio has blunt edges and a rounded tip.
Special features:
– Authentic replica
– Dagger scabbard made of leather and steel

– Blade material: EN45 spring steel
– Total length: approx. 40 cm
– Blade length: approx. 22,7 cm
– Handle length: approx. 12,5 cm
