Michael 'Tinker' Pearce has designed a series of Hanwei swords made from 5160 steel, combining authenticity, functionality, and performance.

Die sorgfältige Wärmebehandlung des (von Tinker bevorzugten) 5160er Stahls durch Warmbadhärtung (engl.: marquenching) resultiert in einem ausgezeichneten Zusammenspiel von Festigkeit und Flexibilität bei einer Rockwell-Härte von 50-52 HRC. Dadurch wird bei den scharfen Klingen eine höhere Kantenfestigkeit ermöglicht, während bei den stumpfen Modellen Gratbildung verhindert und die sicherheitsbedingte Biegsamkeit der Spitze gewährleistet wird.

Replacement blades are available for every sword type in this series, with the exception of the Early Viking Sword. A key feature of Tinker's designs is that the blades are interchangeable. This gives you the option to purchase a complete sword plus a replacement blade, allowing you to use both the sharp and blunt versions. All longswords, bastard swords, and early medieval swords feature Tinker's special assembly system with hex socket barrel nuts, which allows for easy blade changes using an Allen key and ensures that the handle remains securely fastened.

The bastard swords (Oakeshott Type XVIIIA) are designed so that the sharp and blunt versions both handle the same way. Both during training and in combat, the swords feel the same and behave identically. The sharp sword is also produced in two slightly different versions: it is available both with a blade with a continuous diamond-shaped cross-section (item number HN-SH2400) and in an (otherwise identical) version, which, however, features a fuller over about a third of its length (item number HN-SH2411). The rounded pommel is designed so that it can serve as a grip for the second hand if needed, and the straight crossguard offers excellent protection for the hand.

The handle features a hardwood core, wrapped with cord, covered with leather, and fitted with steel fittings. A leather-covered scabbard is included.
