Description
Dagger of the Knights Templar, Marto
The Order of the Temple was founded in 1118 to ensure the preservation of holy sites and to protect pilgrimage routes. The order reached its greatest glory in the XIII century. The Knights Templar considered themselves knights of God, an honor to the Church and Christianity. Their motto was NON NOBIS, DOMINE, NON NOBIS, SED TUO NOMINI DA GLORIAM, Give glory, not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name.
It was a very well-organized military force, and they were the combat troops in all the Crusades. They were in the vanguard during the attack and in the rearguard during the retreat. Over the course of the century, they ensured the effective government of the Latin Kingdom of Constantinople. They paid no taxes or tributes, they obeyed only the Pope, and they held possessions throughout Europe and the Middle East.
