Schnitzel DU red

The DU series is the second series from the relatively young knife manufacturer Schnitzel, which specializes in children's knives. With the DU, Schnitzel ventures for the first time into knives that even teenagers can use. This is noticeable, among other things, in the slightly less playful colors than in the first series. In addition, the knife for the first time includes a real tip. The blade also features a classic Scandi grind and, with its full-tang construction, is ground somewhat sharper than the knives of the last series. This allows for carving with less pressure, which in turn minimizes the risk of injury.

On the spine of the DU's blade, we find what's called jimping, which prevents the thumb from slipping during work. Directly behind it is a small recess that can be used with a fire steel. The blade itself is made of high-quality Sandvik 14C28N steel and ends in a slight drop-point. The consistently thick blade has a matte anti-corrosion finish to counteract any corrosion during tougher use. At the same time, it also gives the knife an attractive appearance.

The non-slip handle scales are made of G10 and ensure a secure grip. A finger guard also prevents the index finger from slipping onto the cutting edge, which should be a welcome protection, especially for carving beginners. Thanks to the matte screw sleeves, the handle scales can be easily disassembled, which significantly simplifies the maintenance of the knife. A paracord lanyard can also be attached as a handle loop if desired.

Schnitzel provides the DU knife with a robust Kydex sheath, which is perfectly protected against moisture, mud, and cold, ensuring safe carrying. As a small feature, a fire steel with a holder is located on the sheath, securely held by an elastic band. The fire steel can be easily ignited at the recess on the back of the blade.
