Every steel eventually dulls and needs sharpening, regardless of the knife's brand and price. Even if the knife is not in use and lies in a drawer or bag, it is advisable to sharpen it regularly. However, if the knife is used in field conditions or regularly in everyday activities, it is particularly important to pay attention to the condition of the cutting edge. What is the easiest way to prevent the blade from requiring tedious and time-consuming repair? It is enough not to let the knife become too dull, which naturally requires regular and proper sharpening. When we go into the forest to fish or camp, we only take the bare essentials of equipment, provisions, and water, and usually neglect sharpening our knives. Often, we only realize in use how much we miss the sharpener that would repair our knife after intensive use.

THE EDGE EDC Knife Sharpener for EDC, Hunting, and Outdoor Knives

THE EDGE edcSHARP is a V-sharpener with fixed angles of 20° and 25°. These are the most common sharpening angles for EDC knives, outdoor knives, and hunting knives. With a pocket-sized sharpener, we can therefore repair knives for various purposes. This feature is particularly appreciated by people who have no experience with sharpening and by users who want to repair the blade quickly and effectively in field conditions. Triangular ceramic and tungsten plates are used for sharpening, which can be easily removed for cleaning. This construction has another advantage: if the edge is worn or damaged, we can simply turn the plate over and use the new grinding surface.

Using the sharpener

Carbide inserts (coarse) quickly and aggressively remove steel. Designed for sharpening severely dull knives and repairing a damaged edge. Depending on the hardness of the steel, 5-6 passes with the blade are usually sufficient to smooth and improve the edge. The carbide grinds the steel quickly and aggressively, so no pressure should be applied to the knife when sharpening; the weight of the knife alone is sufficient.

Ceramic inserts (fine) are used to sharpen and smooth the cutting edge. Recommended for smoothing the blade after sharpening on a tungsten sharpener, for quick sharpening, and for keeping the sharpened knife in good condition. Fine ceramic takes to the steel much more smoothly, so sharpening on the plates is slower and more controlled.
