Extrema Ratio is a world-renowned knife manufacturer based in Prato, Italy. Founded by Maurizio Castrati and Mauro Chiostri, the company has been designing, producing, and selling combat knives, military knives, kitchen knives, hunting knives, and tactical knives since 1997. It enjoys a reputation for excellence that is rarely surpassed in the military and tactical knife industry.

Increased capacity over the years enabled Extrema Ratio to expand its operations. As part of these efforts, the company moved in 2004 to a new 600 square meter facility to meet market demand, and the company quickly established itself as one of the country's leading cutlery manufacturers. Extrema Ratio serves the local military and law enforcement agencies as well as other markets around the world.

Production combines traditional craftsmanship with modern cutting-edge technologies, resulting in high-quality and robust knives. The Extrema Ratio design team uses a 3D system to create new models and prototypes. Each pocket knife design is then meticulously inspected and subsequently field-tested. At this point, the best materials are selected for durability, function, and beauty. Each knife is then assembled by hand and finally finished and inspected by craftsmen.

All knives are made from N690 cobalt stainless steel, a steel from a small factory in Austria, often used in the manufacture of surgical instruments. This steel and its hardening methods produce a material of great strength, flexibility, and the ability to maintain a razor-sharp edge. The handles of the fixed blade knives are made from a grippy polymer called Forprene, which provides a very secure and comfortable grip even when wet. The folding range of tactical or military knives has a shell made of a super-strong Anticorodal alloy to ensure reliability and durability.

Extrema Ratio knives are also developed in close cooperation with the Italian and foreign armed forces. To achieve the best performance and function, no compromises are made in the design, according to the Italian manufacturer.
