The Diamond Plate 600 grit for THE EDGE proSHARP is designed for the THE EDGE proSHARP 10-30° sharpening system.
The diamond plate is designed for THE EDGE proSHARP 10-30° sharpening system but can also be used as a standalone sharpening stone. The 600 grit is recommended for coarse or fine sharpening, depending on the degree of damage/dullness of the edge.
Diamond sharpeners are ideal for sharpening knives made of hard steel with high hardness, e.g., CPM-S30V, M390, D2, etc. Diamond is harder than sintered carbide, so the sharpening process is easy and fast, but one should keep in mind that diamond removes "material" from the blade much faster and more intensely.
Caution: Do not apply excessive pressure when sharpening. The weight of the guide rod (in a sharpening system) or the weight of the knife itself (when using the plate as a standalone sharpener) is sufficient. Clean the plate in warm water with a nylon brush and a mild detergent.
The Edge proSHARP range includes diamond inserts in the following gradations:
- 240 for repairing and reprofiling the cutting edge,
- 600 for resharpening (fine sharpening),
- 1000 for smoothing and quick sharpening of slightly dull edges.
